Inés Berniell

CEDLAS

Inés Berniell is a Senior Researcher at the Center for Distributive, Labor, and Social Studies (CEDLAS) and a professor at the National University of La Plata (Argentina). She holds a BA in Economics from the National University of Córdoba (Argentina), a Master's and a Ph.D. in Economics from CEMFI (Spain), and did her postdoc at the European University Institute (Italy). She worked at the World Bank in Washington, and has also served as a consultant for the IDB, UNU-WIDER, and the European Commission.

Inés is a member of the Executive Committee of LACEA and the Board of the Argentine Association of Political Economy (AAEP). She co-edits the "Revista Económica La Plata”, serves as the coordinator of WELAC-LACEA ('Women in Economics in LAC'), is a member of the team leading IEA–WE ('Women in Leadership in Economics,' IEA), and a team member of GenLAC, the gender equity initiative at CEDLAS.

Her research focuses on labor economics, gender economics, and economic development, and it has been published in the Journal of Development Economics, European Economic Review, Labour Economics, World Development, Economic Development and Cultural Change, among others.
