Javier Olivera
Javier is a research scientist at the Luxembourg Institute of Socio-Economic Research (LISER), full professor of economics at Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru (PUCP), and a Netspar fellow. For 2024-2025, he is appointed to the National Bank of Belgium. His research interests include public economics, inequality, pensions, intergenerational transfers, ageing, and redistributive preferences. He holds a PhD in economics from KU Leuven and a MSc in Economics from the University of Essex. Previously, he has worked and taught at the University of Luxembourg, University College Dublin, KU Leuven, and UC Louvain. He has also worked for the financial regulator and the ministry of economy of Peru, and has been a consultant for IDB, World Bank, UNFPA, ECLAC, Peru’s government, among others.
