José Ramírez Álvarez

Full-time professor at the Escuela Politecnica Nacional (EPN) and part-time professor at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador (PUCE). He is a Mathematical Engineer from EPN. He holds a PhD and Master's degree in Development Economics, both from the Facultad Latinoamericana de Ciencias Sociales (FLACSO). Jose worked as an advisor at the Internal Revenue Service and the Central Bank of Ecuador. He also worked as a consultant for the World Bank and the Inter-American Development Bank. His main area of expertise has been developing quantitative tools related to Input-Output analysis, General equilibrium models, and Microsimulation.

Currently, Jose’s research interests are focused on Development Economics, Tax Policy, and Networks. He has publications in international and local journals
