María is an Assistant Professor of Development Studies at the Latin American Studies Programme, Institute for History, at Leiden University. Her research and teaching interests are focused on the political economy of development, labour and social protection in Latin America. Maria holds a PhD in Development Studies from the International Institute of Social Studies of Erasmus University Rotterdam (ISS), where she studied social protection and labour regimes in Latin America from a gendered and generational perspective.
