Martin is a professor at the Instituto de Economía (Iecon), part of the Facultad de Ciencias Económicas y de Administración at the Universidad de la República (Udelar) in Uruguay. He is a member of the Inequality and Poverty Research Group (IECON) and the National System of Researchers (Level I - SNI). Additionally, he collaborates with the Ethics, Justice, and Economy group (IECON). He obtained his PhD in Economics from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (Spain). His research interests include social preferences, inequality, intergenerational mobility and social welfare, with a particular focus on the causes and consequences of inequality and poverty in developing countries.
