Matthieu is Professor of economics at the University of Bordeaux and researcher at Bordeaux School of Economics. His research interests lie in the fields of development, inequality and health. His recent publications deal with the consequences of inequality and social stratification (e.g. on violence, environmental quality or political and policy aspirations) and the socioeconomic determinants of health and nutrition. He is currently involved in research projects focusing on peripheral middle classes in Chile, Colombia and Mexico and on the gig economy in Chile.
